Field Seeds: Peacor, for the protection of corn and sunflower seedings against bird damage

Developed by the Business Unit Limagrain Europe, Peacor is a diversion technique that consists in sowing a strip of “trap crop” (peas), very rich in protein, in corn and sunflower plots, to limit bird damage and thus avoid the use of a chemical solution on spring crops.

Attracted by the peas, the birds naturally settle in this strip and stay away from the corn and sunflower seedlings. A strip of peas can protect up to 5 hectares of corn or sunflower.

Peacor is an ecological, simple and non-chemical approach that can also be used in organic farming.
